Baptism
What is Baptism?
Baptism is an important milestone in the life of a believer who has consciously chosen to follow Christ.
It is an opportunity for them to publicly declare their faith in Jesus and commit to follow Him with the entirety of their lives.
Baptism is an outward expression of an inward trust in & love for Jesus. A believer is put under the water, which symbolizes dying to an old way of life. They are then brought up out of the water, symbolizing resurrection to a new way of life–a life lived for Jesus by the power of the Holy Spirit. It is a significant moment to “bury” their old life, old habits, and old ways as they begin to walk in a new life.
In other words, baptism is a visible representation that a person is identifying with the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus (Romans 6:3-5).
